She walked along with her grandfather. He was supervising the construction of a boundary wall. On a whim, he picked up a stick and wrote her name, on the fresh cement wall. As he has intended, it brought a smile on her face.
Much has changed over the years, from emptied rooms, to shrinking menus, and minimized garden. The man is long gone. For now, that scribbled name survives.

The house withdrew into silence, snakes moved
Among books, I was then too young

This is so sweet. Love wondering how objects are at times the only witness and part of so many tales. If only there was a way to peek into all those memories 🙂

Yes, indeed, it is fascinating to understand the memories associated with objects. It is such seemingly insignificant things that make us emotional and uniquely human.

Thanks 🙂 … I’m obsessed with architecture and can keep exploring and writing about it 🙂
Both sketches are made with black gel pen and copic pens, the second one is colored with watercolors and edited digitally to sepia tone .

There is a poignancy about this – people go and come and yet that graffiti survives. Nice one.
